St Mary's Yapton.

Yapton & Ford Local History Group.
Friday 1st April 2005

Did you know :-

  1. Yapton dates from the 11th century and Ford from the 12th century??
  2. There are 2 Conservation Areas and 17 Listed Buildings within the two parishes
  1. In 1833, Yapton had 6
    schools!
  1. The population of Yapton has grown from 122 in 1676 to over 3,500 today.
The Yapton & Ford Local History Group was formed in 1992 to act as a forum for people interested in the history of the two parishes.
We are keen to preserve the heritage we have in our villages so please search your attic and cupboards for any old photographs, documents and records of village life and consider donating them to our library (if you wish to keep them we will copy and return them to you). Remember, anything is useful - "today is tomorrow's history"!
We meet once a month in the Club Room of Yapton village hall where a guest speaker entertains and informs about local and social history. The topics presented are varied and interesting.
Our next meeting is on Monday, 4th April 2005 at 7:30pm. Why not come along - guest membership is available for only £1 per meeting.
