GENERAL SHOW RULES-2004
- Entry fees are: Members 20p. None Members 30p. Children free.
- Exhibitors may only enter one exhibit per class. Only one exhibit per Household per class in horticulture section. The hall will be open for staging from 8am to 10.15am. Judging begins at 10.30am.
- All horticultural exhibits will be judged under R.H.S. rules. Book may be borrowed from the Show Secretary.
- The Show will be open to the Public at 2pm. Prize giving will be at 4pm approximately.
Exhibits to be removed after the prize giving. - All exhibits of Flowers, Fruit and Vegetables must be grown by the exhibitor, except in Floral Art and childens sections, unless otherwise stated, Name variety of exhibit, where applicable, if known. Exhibits in Home craft, Photography, Culinary and Childens sections must not have been exhibited in any of the Society's Classes in any previous show and must have been made or prepared by the exhibitor. Floral Art Note:- A exhibit is plant material with or without accessories; flowers and any plant material used need not be grown by the exhibitor. Base and back drapes may be used need and are not considered accessories. All exhibits will be judged in accordance with N.A.F.A.S. handbook of Schedule Definitions.
- The judges have the power to withhold any prizes and recommend extra prizes. The judges decision is final.
- Cups are offered for annual competition and must be returned to the Show Secretary 14 days before the show.
- Any person fraudulently competing for any prize will be disqualified and expelled from the society. All protests must be handed to the Hon. Secretary at or before 4.00pm on the day of the Show, accompanied by a fee of £1, which will be forfeited if the matter is not proven.
- Liability of loss. The Society cannot hold itself responsible for loss or damage to exhibits or property from any cause whatsoever.
ADDITIONAL RULES FOR AUGUST SHOW
- No person employing outside help will be eligible to compete in Classes 1-45.
- Professional Gardeners may only enter the Open Classes.
- The Showground will be open for staging of exhibits from 6am to 10am on the morning of the Show. Judging will commence at 10.15am at which time all exhibitors must leave the Exhibition tent.
- Where points are required for special awards, it is 1st-5, 2nd-3, 3rd-1 (except classes 20, 71, 72, 73, and 111, which are 1st-10, 2nd-6, 3rd-3).
- Prizes will be presented at approximately 4.30pm. Exhibits to be removed after the Prize giving.
